Darrell Critch was serving as Rector of Good Samaritan in St. John's NL as well as Archdeacon of Eastern Canada. He and his team had experienced astounding successes including: a growing church, a large refurbished new facility, providing space for Packer College, and hosting a shelter space for those on the street.
Representing our Province at the global councils of the Church, Archdeacon Darrell became known, and was asked if he would consider allowing his name to stand as Bishop for the Diocese of Mahajanga in northern Madagascar! This is one of the poorest areas of the world.
As is often the case, those who devote themselves to the building up of the family of God locally, are often those who care most about far off missions. Darrell consulted closely with his wife and teenage son who were partners together in the parish mission trips to Guatemala. All were convicted that this was a calling they should consider.
Bishop Dan flew over to be part of the Consecration Service, and appointed a Vicar for Good Samaritan to guide the work there for long periods of the year when Bishop Darrell will be in Madagascar. Please pray for Bishop Darrell and family as they develop this meaningful link between our Diocese and Province and the Churches of the Global South.
